Intelex Appoints Derek Smyth as New Chief Customer Officer
TORONTO – September 8, 2016 – Intelex Technologies, a leading global provider of cloud-based Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality (EHSQ) management software, has expanded its executive team with the appointment of Derek Smyth as new Chief Customer Officer, effective September 6, 2016. A venture capital and technology industry veteran, Smyth steps into this strategic new role to help drive global go-to-market strategies that accelerate growth, expand markets, and deliver a world class customer experience.
In the newly created role that reports to the CEO, Derek will serve both as a leader on the executive team, and within cross-functional teams throughout the organization. Derek will be focused on extending the company’s strategic growth in the global EHSQ marketplace, driving revenue growth, and optimizing the customer journey.

Derek brings more than 20 years of experience helping companies fast-track their growth strategy as both a venture capitalist and technology executive. Most recently, Derek was Chief Operating Officer at Vision Critical where he consistently delivered 25% plus revenue growth. Previous to this, Derek served as Managing Director at OMERS Ventures where he successfully led numerous investments for technology companies including Hootsuite, Hopper, BuildDirect, Desire2Learn, Fusebill, Vidyard, and others. Derek also served as a partner at EdgeStone Capital where he managed investments for numerous companies including Varicent Software (purchased by IBM) and Rypple (purchased by Salesforce.com). Before entering the world of venture capital, Derek held operational roles as CEO of Bridgewater Systems (purchased by Amdocs) where he was instrumental in the company’s turnaround, and as COO of Ironside Technologies (purchased by SSA) where he was responsible for global sales, marketing, product and professional services.
